Most Reliable Insurance Brokerage Firm of 2026

We feel gracious to be awarded the Most Reliable Insurance Brokerage Firm of 2026 — an honour that would not be possible without our reliable clients.
As part of the award feature, MediaZone interviewed our founder Clive Wolstencroft on the future of insurance broking in Hong Kong. His responses are below.
Q&A with Clive Wolstencroft, Founder
On Technology
How are disruptive technologies like AI and the rise of robo-advisors changing your industry’s landscape today?
AI has moved from novelty to operational dependency in a remarkably short space of time, and the shift is genuinely double-edged. Used well, it speeds up document analysis, quotation comparison and market monitoring; used carelessly, it creates a fragile ecosystem — which is the same logic we apply to insurance itself.
You would never place all of your cover with a single carrier, and you should not place all of your operations in the hands of a single algorithm. In Hong Kong’s multilingual, multi-jurisdictional environment — where policy language genuinely matters — the stakes are higher still. AI’s strength lies in computation, not comprehension.
Our position is balance, not replacement. The challenge isn’t whether to adopt AI — that ship has sailed. It is how to adopt it responsibly, keeping humans in the loop and protecting the client trust no algorithm can replicate.
On Regulation
How are new and evolving regulations from the Hong Kong Insurance Authority affecting insurance brokers?
Since the Insurance Authority took over direct licensing of brokers in 2019, the bar for professional conduct has risen considerably — and continues to rise. We welcome that, even though it places real operational weight on smaller brokerages.
Tightening CPD requirements mean that holding a licence is no longer a one-time achievement; advisors must demonstrate ongoing competency. Fee transparency, done well, becomes an opportunity to strengthen trust rather than a disclosure obligation to be ticked off. The IA’s focus on needs-based selling has added administrative depth to every client interaction — but for us it has only reinforced good habits.
The recent AML fines are a clear reminder that compliance is not a box-ticking exercise. The era of light-touch broker regulation is over. The firms that thrive won’t be those who work around the rules — they will be the ones who use the framework as a foundation for client trust.
On The 35th Anniversary & What’s Next
Following your 35th anniversary milestone, what developments can customers and partners expect from Navigator?
Thirty-five years, honestly, feels less like a moment to look back and more like a launchpad for what is coming next. We have spent the past year quietly laying the groundwork for something we believe will meaningfully expand what Navigator can offer. The way people discover, purchase and interact with their cover is evolving rapidly, and there is a real gap in the market for solutions that feel modern, accessible and genuinely client-centric.
As for events — a large gala was never going to be our style. We are marking this milestone the same way we have always measured success: one happy client at a time. Thirty-five small victories, repeated every day, feels more Navigator than any anniversary dinner ever could.
Whatever we launch and wherever we expand, the thread running through it won’t change. Great insurance advice is built on trust, expertise and genuine human relationships. The Navigator our clients have relied on isn’t going anywhere — it is only getting started.
