Mazda has finally launched its first all-electric model, the Mazda 6e, which was previewed early at the IMXpo 2025 auto show in Hong Kong, bringing a fresh option to the local electric vehicle market. This car not only demonstrates the brand’s determination toward electrification but also combines sporty design with cutting-edge technology.
Through its strategic partnership with China’s Changan Automobile, the Mazda 6e adopts the chassis and powertrain of the Changan Deepal, while the exterior design was meticulously crafted by Mazda’s Japanese team. The four-door sports sedan boasts sleek dimensions—measuring 4,921 mm in length, 1,890 mm in width, and 1,491 mm in height, with a wheelbase approaching 2.9 meters—exuding a strong sense of sportiness.

Under the hood, the Mazda 6e is equipped with a 78kWh lithium battery and features a single-motor rear-wheel-drive system, delivering 258 horsepower and 320Nm of torque. Its acceleration is equally impressive, going from 0 to 100km/h in just 7.5 seconds. According to WLTP standards, this EV offers a range of up to 545 kilometers, complemented by remarkable charging efficiency—fast charging can replenish the battery from 10% to 80% in just 15 minutes.
The interior design is equally striking. Compared to the current gasoline-powered model, the new Mazda 6e’s cabin feels more stylish and contemporary. The hatchback-style trunk offers a cargo capacity of 466 liters, expandable to 1,074 liters, ensuring high practicality for users. The flat floor design in the rear further guarantees spacious and comfortable legroom.

For Hong Kong consumers, pricing is naturally a key consideration. Currently, the local dealer indicates that under Hong Kong’s existing “One-for-One Replacement” electric vehicle subsidy scheme, the Mazda 6e is expected to start at around HK$260,000. However, the final price will depend on whether the subsidy scheme is extended or adjusted after March 2025.

It’s worth noting that the version previewed in Hong Kong is left-hand drive, but the models destined for local sales will align with the right-hand-drive specifications of the UK variant. The new car is expected to arrive in Hong Kong for delivery and sales by mid-2025, officially entering the local market.
For consumers seeking sportiness paired with electric innovation, the Mazda 6e is undoubtedly an attractive option. It not only marks Mazda’s first foray into pure electric vehicles but also showcases how EVs can balance performance, design, and practicality seamlessly.
