General Situation
An anticyclone aloft will continue to bring generally fine and very hot weather to southern China in the next couple of days. Showers triggered by high temperatures will also affect the inland areas. Meanwhile, an area of low pressure may develop into a tropical cyclone over the seas west of Luzon within the broad trough of low pressure over the central and northern parts of the South China Sea. However, its subsequent movement and intensity remain uncertain. It will have a higher chance to move towards the western coast of Guangdong and the vicinity of Hainan Island. Under its influence, it will be windy with heavy squally showers and thunderstorms over the coast of Guangdong early next week. There will be swells. With the anticyclone aloft strengthening again, showers will ease off gradually and the weather will improve over the region in the middle and latter parts of next week. Besides, Tropical Cyclone Peipah will move across the vicinity of Kyushu of Japan today. It will then move towards Shikoku of Japan and the southern part of Honshu and transform into an extratropical cyclone gradually.
