General Situation
An anticyclone aloft will bring prolonged very hot weather to Guangdong in the next couple of days. A southwesterly airstream will also bring a few showers to the region. Meanwhile, a broad area of low pressure will gradually develop into a tropical cyclone over the seas east of the Philippines. It is expected to edge closer to the vicinity of Luzon in the latter part of this week, with a higher chance of entering the northern part of the South China Sea. However, there are uncertainties over its movement and intensity. Under the influence of its outer subsiding air, the weather will be extremely hot over Guangdong. The tropical cyclone will bring showers and squally thunderstorms to the coast of Guangdong and the northern part of the South China Sea during the weekend to early next week. There will be swells. A broad trough of low pressure will continue to bring showers to the region midweek next week.
