The anti-corruption agency has arrested five people, including two healthcare professionals, for allegedly pocketing as much as millions of Hong Kong dollars in government subsidies for elderly community services through fake visit records and sharing funds with the residents’ family members.

Hong Kong revs up development of autonomous vehicles with new, expanded trials
Hong Kong is ramping up efforts to develop driverless vehicle services by launching a trial at Cyberport and expanding an initiative at the West Kowloon arts hub following road tests in other areas.
The Transport Department said on Thursday that mainland Chinese tech giant Baidu was also interested in applying to test autonomous vehicles in Kai Tak, in addition to its trials in Northern Lantau and Tung Chung.

The average waiting time for a Hong Kong public rental flat increased slightly to 5.4 years in the second quarter of 2025 from 5.3 years in the first three months of the year despite a significant drop in the number of applications, according to the Housing Authority.
