We observe that Travel cover is a commonly an instinctive purchase.
Many times people already have the cover that they then repurchase in a travel plan. For example, around half of all travel claims are for medical expenses. Oftentimes people already have more extensive international health cover, including evacuation cover! A further 25% of travel claims are typically for lost or damaged bags or possessions. Most quality home plans will include an allowance for items lost or stolen away from your home. This leaves the last 25% of travel claims, where people claim loss or inability to use prepaid tickets, due say to one of the family falling ill at the last moment, or for death or disablement. HKD 1m is the maximum amount normally available for medical expenses, though IHI now has a travel plan where medical benefits (including evacuation) are unlimited. The ihi-Bupa plan also covers preexisting conditions that have been stable in the preceding 6 months, even pregnancy! And when it comes to life and disability these covers are far more economically purchased and with more extensive cover, by way of annual cover. |
